Health Technology
Health technology
The World Health Organization defines it as ‘The application of organized knowledge and skills in the form of devices, medicines, vaccines, procedures, and systems developed to solve a health problem and improve quality of lives”. Not a bad definition per se, but let’s tweak it, and make it version 2.0. I define Health Technology as “Improving health and well being by combining everyday human life and technology generating quality of life 2.0”.
The era of working on computers has changed, no longer are we just inputting data on keyboards just to generate simple commands. Computer technology has become smaller, smarter, and faster, it’s time for technology to work with us, to help improve ourselves. The 21st century is proving that combining two of the most important sectors in the market, health and technology, can improve patient healthcare. Medical practitioners and their patients are going to be more connected than ever before. Your provider will now be able to monitor your health without you having to be in the hospital or office setting. The data that your provider collects from these devices will help to provide an even better patient care experience. There are several other health benefits of technology, including but not limited to, encouraging a more proactive healthier lifestyle, helps to keep patients engaged in their own healthcare, benefits for providers and employees in the workforce, and can help monitor the vulnerable patient population. We have made our homes and vehicles smarter, it’s time to help make our body and mind smarter as well.
