Contact tracing
What is it? Basically it’s a way to monitor (Trace) who is infected and who could they have been in contact with and possibly exposed to the virus. The people who were in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 are at greater risk of getting sick. Are there privacy issues and HIPPA concerns?
In a perfect public health world the people who have the virus automatically show up on a map and we can retrace their footsteps to see where they were, who were they in contact with, and who could they have possibly exposed to the virus. Contact Tracing is like the movie Back To The Future, we go back in time by retracing the foot steps of possible exposures and try to help stop future exposures. The process of tracing continues until everyone who’s been exposed is out of circulation in hope that it will stop virus transmission.
