COVID-19 Vaccinations
Vaccinations
A vaccine is designed to boost our natural immune response to an invading virus. The vaccination helps the body recognize antigens on pathogens outer surface. The body’s immune system responds to the presence of these antigens by producing special immune cells (white blood cells) that directly attack the pathogen, or by producing proteins called antibodies. The antibodies attach to an antigen creating a complex that sets off the bodies alarm system to attract immune cells that engulf and destroy the pathogen complex.
The vaccination is the strategic game plan that we have rehearsed during our pregame exercises, it’s going to give us humans a leg up during the main event, the illness. Think of a vaccine like a pregame exercise before the big championship battle of Human vs Pathogen.
