How is the world going to change from this pandemic? What did we not even notice back just a few weeks ago that we will change moving forward? I think about that simple thought, and my mind begins to wonder. Below are some of my thoughts on things that we should have been physically protecting ourselves from. Ever wonder how many people use the gas pumps to fuel our vehicles day in and day out (If you own a Tesla, this also goes for you but to a lesser degree at charging stations)? Do you think that the pump handles are cleaned and sanitized after every use? Rather gross if you think about it! After pumping, we then open our vehicles maybe grab our phones, put the car in drive, grab our steering wheels and drive away. Some might use antibacterial, but others might not, seriously does anyone see a problem with that process at all? While living in Europe several years ago, I realized that fuel stations had disposable gloves attached to the pump stations. I thought, why didn’t the U.S. have these fantastic products at every fuel pump? Confession time, I have been using my own disposable gloves at gas stations for many years, not even embarrassed to admit it. What about the airplanes that we fly in? Best believe that the Coronavirus took flight over from another continent, and it didn’t just float across on an ocean wave or float on top of western wind current. How sanitary are airplanes? The seats, the buttons, the air that is pushed, and circulated throughout the entire cabin for a majority of the flights? There has to be a better, safer way to fly to decrease the chances of spreading any infectious agent. Lastly, How about the credit card machines that have those plastic pens that we use to sign for after purchases (No, I don’t carry my own plastic pen, but I have thought about it). With all the technology nowadays, why can’t we find alternative ways to sign for purchases? These are just some of the things that I have pondered on, which I’m sure others have as well. Things are going to change moving forward; they must. We have to take the lessons learned from this pandemic and translate it into good viable knowledge in order to make our world an even better and safer place to live.
Happy Cinco de Mayo on a TACO Tuesday!!!
